The GenericJMX plugin reads Managed Beans (MBeans) from an MBeanServer using JMX. The plugin is written in Java and requires the Java plugin to function.

The Java Management Extensions (JMX) is a generic framework to provide and query various management information. The interface is used by the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to provide information about the memory used, threads and so on. These basic performance values can therefore be collected for every Java process without any support in the Java process itself.

Advanced Java processes can use the JMX interface to provide performance information themselves. The Apache Tomcat application server, for example, provides information on the number of requests processed, the number of bytes sent, processing time, and thread counts. (more …)

Navigation

Using the “tabs” in the top right corner you can switch between the homepage and the wiki. When in the wiki, the menu on the right holds a link to the “Main Page” (this page) and other wiki controls.

Editing

Unfortunately, we had to stop allowing anonymous edits and even self-registration due to huge problems with spambots. If you want to contribute to the wiki, we're more than happy to create an account for you: ping us on IRC (#collectd on freenode) or on the mailing list – we need an email address and the username of your choice.

This sucks, wikis should be open by default. We've tried our fair share of more permissive variants, from allowing external links only to registered users to letting users solve a Captcha. If you're an awesome wiki admin and want to deal with this, please ping octo. Also feel free to reach out on collectd mailing list at collectd@verplant.org.
