You can edit pages freely and without creating a user account and logging in.

Unfortunately, we had to stop allowing anonymous edits and even self-registration due to huge problems with spambots. If you want to contribute to the wiki, we're more than happy to create an account for you: ping us on IRC (<code>#collectd</code> on freenode) or on the mailing list – we need an email address and the username of your choice.

If you do not log in, your IP-address will be saved and displayed in the change history. If your change adds an external link, you will be asked to solve a <em>Captcha</em>. Automated attacks on our wiki made this unfortunate step necessary, sorry.

This sucks, wikis should be open by default. We've tried our fair share of more permissive variants, from allowing external links only to registered users to letting users solve a Captcha. If you're an awesome wiki admin and want to deal with this, please ping octo. Also feel free to reach out on collectd mailing list at collectd@verplant.org.

If you have questions about anything you read in this wiki, please don't hesitate to ask this question in the discussion page. You can find a link at the top, right next to “page”.

The GenericJMX plugin reads Managed Beans (MBeans) from an MBeanServer using JMX. The plugin is written in Java and requires the Java plugin to function.

The Java Management Extensions (JMX) is a generic framework to provide and query various management information. The interface is used by the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to provide information about the memory used, threads and so on. These basic performance values can therefore be collected for every Java process without any support in the Java process itself.

Advanced Java processes can use the JMX interface to provide performance information themselves. The Apache Tomcat application server, for example, provides information on the number of requests processed, the number of bytes sent, processing time, and thread counts. (more …)

Unfortunately, we had to stop allowing anonymous edits and even self-registration due to huge problems with spambots. If you want to contribute to the wiki, we're more than happy to create an account for you: ping us on IRC (#collectd on freenode) or on the mailing list – we need an email address and the username of your choice.
